Acciona is a leading European construction company constructing and managing buildings and civil infrastructures under the sustainability principles. Acciona uses cutting-edge technology to develop and apply the most advanced materials, components, systems and solutions for sustainability and in particular for energy efficient concepts, design, construction, operation and recycling of buildings. It applies to new and retrofitted buildings while preserving a high indoor environment quality.
Acciona has its own R&D Technological Centre in Madrid, composed by a multidisciplinary and international team of about 150 highly qualified researchers from a wide range of disciplines. Main research areas are Nanotechnology, New Construction Materials, Products and Systems, ICTs, Energy Efficiency and Environmental Technologies. It has laboratories of nanotechnology and advanced materials, RES and HVAC integration in buildings, ICT and Virtual Reality & Simulation, chemistry analysis as well as workshop for prototyping construction.
ACCIONA Infraestructuras has a wide experience in R&D projects both national and European, even international projects beyond Europe. It is currently involved in the coordination of several European projects related to this proposal, and it is participating also as project partner in a high number of projects in the field of Energy Efficient Buildings.
At European level, Acciona plays an active role in the ECTP being part of its Executive Committee, coleading the FA Cities and Buildings and it is a member on ECTP’s Advisory Group on SMEs. It is a member of the AD HOC Advisory Group to the EC on the PPP on Energy Efficient Buildings. It is also a member of ENCORD (European Network of construction companies for Research and Development), FIEC (European Construction Industry Federation), and it is a founding member of Building Smart Spanish Chapter (BSSC) and others ETPs construction/energy related and is actively participating in several initiatives like Smart Energy Home or Inter-ETPs group. At international level, Acciona has recently joined to the Executive Committee of the “Caring for Climate” platform of the UN Global Compact initiative for participants seeking to demonstrate leadership on the issue of climate change.
